Finland - Tampere to Helsinki

A serpent holding an apple in its mouth is painted on the highest point of the ceiling of Tampere Cathedral. It is the most controversial of Simberg’s frescos as it was viewed as a symbol of corruption and sin, deemed unsuitable for a church. There were calls for its removal as late as 1946.  The Wounded Angel and The Garden of Death are the most famous frescos in the church.
